Paipos! - since 2014. Made of wood, fiberglass, and epoxy resin. Built tough, but not overbuilt.
Why Ride a Paipo?
Paipos are a direct path to the most fun parts of wave riding - catching lots of waves, speed, tubes, and cutbacks. On a paipo you can regularly get spit out of deep 3-4 foot tubes. Paipos also make fun times out of junk surf and they make mushy waves feel fast and exciting.
Plus, they are tiny and travel easily.
Paipos simplify surfing in a way that makes it more about the ride and less about doing tricks. You can duckdive deep and hang out in the impact zone. Take off on the dumpy waves nobody wants and make it! It is easier than stand up surfing and is better exercise as you are using arms and legs to move forward.
Design Philosophy
All on a simple piece of wood
Performance, durability, versatility - these are the most important things to us when we make a surfboard. The boards handle fast barreling waves, or wide open faces. They let you stall to get in the tube or climb high and drop to get around the white water. We like making boards that you can bring to the beach knowing they will work in almost all conditions. They will also last a very long time.
Caring for your board
-Your board needs minimal maintenance. If treated properly, the glass job will last indefinitely without ever needing to be refinished. Fiberglass laminated with epoxy is one of the most durable finishes available for wood. Epoxy is extremely strong and abrasion resistant when compared to oils, varnishes, or polyester surfboard resin.
-Riding the surfboard will not damage it or cause it to wear out.
-Wax up the deck from nose to tail, rail to rail, and ride it.
-Dont leave your board in direct sunlight when not in use. Prolonged UV rays damage all surfboards and finishes over time.
-Don't bang or smash your board on hard surfaces, or run it over with your car, train, or bicycle. The hard and durable glass job can crack and will need repair.
-Riding your board into the sand or rocks will cause damage.
-The board can be repaired like any other surfboard. Use epoxy resin. Contact Archerfish Surfcraft for support.
